鈥淢y major pushed me academically to grow in my writing, reading, and critical thinking skills. I was able to discern what career best fits my passions and ambitions, which prepared me for my internship and graduate program.鈥 2024 Graduate

The study of Sociology & Criminology at 黑料大事 equips students with the strong analytic and theoretical skills to understand complex issues that face us in the 21st century and succeed in a variety of career paths. Some common pathways include law school; graduate school in social work, public policy or sociology; or a variety of careers where they find success in continuing the John Carroll tradition of learning, leadership, and service.聽

Graduate School

Allison Foos 聽鈥25, is a graduate student in the Master of Social Work (MSSA) program at Case Western Reserve University.

Devon Skufca 鈥25, is a graduate student in the PhD program at University at Buffalo in Sociology and Criminology.

Halle Landies 鈥24,聽continued at JCU and receive her Master鈥檚 in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) in 2025. She currently works for the Department of Justice.

Sophia Alberico 鈥24 is a graduate student in the Master of Social Work (MSSA) program at Case Western Reserve University.

Raymond Flannery 鈥22, Master in Public Health focused in Behavioral and Community Health from University of Maryland, and currently serves as Assistant Director for Student Organizations at Xavier University.

Chris Soules 聽鈥21, Master in Social Work (MSW, LSW) from Cleveland State University, and currently works as a social worker at University Hospitals.

Michael Rodriguez 鈥20, Master in Higher Education from Pepperdine University, where he currently serves as the Senior Admission Counselor at Pepperdine University

Patcia Lanchman 鈥19, Master in Forensic Science from Syracuse University, and works as a Medicolegal Death Investigator for the Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office

Elizabeth Nies 鈥19, Master in Social Work (MSW, LSW) from Edinboro University, works as the Community School Director for United Way of Erie.

Maeve McMahon 鈥19, Master in Social Work (MSSA, LSW) from Case Western Reserve University and works as a social worker within the MetroHealth System.

Bridget (Branning) Graber 鈥17, Master in Social Work (MSW, LSW) at Simmons University, and currently serves as the Vice President of Behavioral Health at Neighborhood Family Practice in Cleveland.

Emma McCarthy 鈥16, Master in Public Health from Boston University and Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), and currently works as an Account Manager for Lumanity and is on the Board of Directors for Monta帽a De Luz.

Law School

Nate Burkett, 鈥25, J.D. Candidate at Cleveland State University School of Law.

Nicholas Jennette 鈥22, worked as a police officer in University Heights for a few years before becoming a J.D. Candidate at the University of Toledo.

Erin Ahern JCU 鈥21, received her J.D. from The Ohio State University鈥檚 Moritz College of Law, where she was Symposium Editor of the Ohio State Law Journal. She is currently an Associate Attorney at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease.

Andrew Salem 鈥21, received his J.D. from the University of Akron School of Law and is currently an Attorney with Zimmer Kunz, PLLC.

Adelyn Burns 鈥20, received her J.D. from the University of Buffalo School of Law and worked as a Pro Bono Scholar for the Legal Aid Bureau of Buffalo. Currently, she is an Associate Attorney at Phillips Lytle LLP.

Brianna Sweeny 鈥20, received her J.D. from The Ohio State University鈥檚 Moritz College of Law, and is currently an Associate Attorney in the litigation group at Brennan, Manna & Diamond.聽

Mara McCormick 鈥19, received her J.D. from Cleveland State University鈥檚 College of Law, and is currently an Associate Attorney at Rupp Pfalzgraf LLC, where she works in the areas of business, estate, and real estate law, and litigation.

Reyante Williams 鈥25, is working in Probation for Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court.

Samantha Chisling 鈥25, is working as a staff member for Strengthening Families at Jewish Family Service Association, Cleveland.

Jacob Smith 鈥24, is currently working as a Business Development Associate at GradFin, Cleveland.

John-Cameron Niehus 鈥22, is the Associate Pastor at Discover Church in Wadsworth, OH. He also works as the Assistant Football Coach for Chardon High School, and continues to serve as a Field Artillery officer in the Ohio Army National Guard.

Julia Tollett 鈥21, is currently an Assessment Specialist for Lorain County Juvenile Court.

Karrah Spencer 鈥21, works as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Specialist for Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District doing a range of important personnel work.

Hannah Snider 鈥20, after working as a 911 Dispatcher, she currently supports an intelligent automation initiative at STERIS, where she is the Intelligence Project Coordinator.

Caitlin Matthews 鈥19, did a year of service with Homeboy Industries with the Jesuit Volunteer Core, and is currently the Program Manager and Project Director for OhioGuidestone.

Diamond Page 鈥19, is working as a Care Coordinator for Catholic Charities in Cleveland, where she acts as an advocate for families with courts, schools, treatment centers and other services.

Dillon Taton 鈥19, has certifications in anti-fraud and anti-money laundering, and currently works as an Investigator in Financial Crimes & Fraud for USAA.

Stephen Attewell 鈥18, completed internships at both the ATF and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office during his time at JCU, and has risen quickly during his time with the Orange (OH) Police Department, currently serving as a Detective Sergeant.

Kaleigh Wagner 鈥18, 聽is serving as the Director of Philanthropy at Community Food Share in Denver, CO where she works in the area of strategic fundraising and helps fight community hunger.

Adam Chaney 鈥17, did two years of service upon graduation with City Year, and currently works as a Forensic Investigator for Summit County.
